The popular Korean Restaurant on Robson Street is a destination for late-night karaoke and ALL YOU CAN EAT BBQ. In Korean, Gogigui means “meat + roasting”.
Dae Bak Bon Ga Lunch is $29-$34.
There are different AYCE menus depending on the types of meats you want. Pork Belly, and Pork Steak is the cheapest menu while ordering Beef and Chicken will cost you more.
Lots of Banchan Side Dishes.
Kimchi, bean sprouts, potatoes, salad, rice.
At Korean BBQ, the food is only as good as the cook. It’s very easy to overcook or undercook meats. Finding the sweet spot on the grill can be tricky. Dae Bak Bon Ga has good ventilation, but the oil splatters will go everywhere and reach far.
The sauces at Dae Bak Bon Ga are a must. The meats don’t have much taste especially if you order ‘Plain’ meats or marinated meats. Some good choices are wasabi, or oil and pepper.
PRICE:
$$ AFFORDABLE. High Price for Lunch All You Can Eat but similar price to AYCE Sushi. Expect to pay over $30 per person.
QUALITY:
OK! Nice selection of banchan side dishes.
Some pieces of pork steak were very tendony, or fatty.
Salad portion size is much smaller than previous visit.
There was a hair in the Japchae!
SERVICE:
OK! The service is straightforward. In the past the servers used to help grill the meats but now they let you do everything. They do change the grill after the first round of grilling.
They limit your order and don’t serve exactly what you order. Ordered 2 Pork Steak pieces, and got 1.
VERDICT:
Overall, SATISFIED. COULD BE BETTER. Dae Bak Bon Ga is a good place to get your fill of Korean BBQ. It used to be better in the past, but now service, and quality seem lower. 3PM Happy Hour is a little cheaper deal.
