Happy Holidays! Here’s our video from Christmas Day Brunch at Notch 8 The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver All You Can Eat Buffet.
Is this the most expensive buffet in Vancouver?
Notch 8 Christmas Day Holiday Brunch Buffet at the historic
Hotel Vancouver. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.
Hotel Vancouver takes reservations for the Christmas Day
Holiday Buffet in early November, so be sure to plan ahead.
VERY POPULAR
Guests are seated in waves. 11:30 AM is the first seating time.
There was some confusion and disorganization because of the lack of communication
from the hotel staff. We were seated after noon, 30 minutes after the reservation.
Tip: Arrive 30 min before your reservation time, and check-in at the desk.
This buffet at Notch 8 is $89 per person. Yes, $89! Before tax and tip.
Toddlers are charged half that price depending how your server
feels about the amount of food your toddler eats.
Beautiful Dessert Bar presentation.
Cakes, fondue fountain, and pastries, hot chocolate and mulled wine!
Carvery the main attraction.
Lamb Roast, Beef Roast, Ham, and Turkey.
Delicious!
Lamb, Beef, scrambled eggs, and Chimichurri Sauce.
“It is made of finely chopped parsley, minced garlic, olive oil,
oregano, and red wine vinegar.” – Wikipedia
Charcuterie and Seafood
Meats, and smoked salmon, candied salmon, shrimp and crab.
The Carvery was very popular and highlight of the buffet.
Unfortunately, the servers were very slow, which created a line up.
The odd layout of the buffet made it very crowded and difficult.
Mushroom Soup
Nice take on mushroom soup with real mushrooms.
Total Spent at Notch 8
$89 x 4 persons
$373.80 + tax before tip.
PRICE:
$$ Very Expensive! $89 per person before tax and tip.
QUALITY:
Very good. Clean, well prepared.
SERVICE:
Ok server, friendly, fast clearing plates.
Not good. Disorganized check-in. Carvery was too slow, waiting time.
No steak knives were offered. Layout of the buffet seems bad,
line-up to carvery blocking seating area.
Server never offered beverage options such as coffee, and tea.
Confusion over reservation and billing. Never received itemized receipt.
A 20% Gratuity is Pre-Authorized on the credit card.
VERDICT:
This is an overpriced holiday buffet in a historic downtown hotel.
There are some very good premium items on the buffet, but many
other ‘cheap’ items to skip. Strict time limit.
Good for a holiday visit once, and perhaps never again.
For this price you might as well fly to Vegas for buffet.
CASH, DEBIT, CREDIT.
