RICHMOND NIGHT MARKET IS CLOSING PERMANENTLY – VANCOUVER FOOD AND TRAVEL GUIDE – GUTOM.CA

CLOSING

RICHMOND NIGHT MARKET

LAST DAY

Richmond Night Market has announced that they will be closing permanently. The market has been around for 26 years and is known for bringing a slice of Asia to Vancouver with food, and festivities in the famous Night Market style.

From a posting on Instagram, Richmond Night Market will be closing at the end of summer. There are only SIX weeks left!

Richmond Night Market was known as the Largest Night Market outside of Asia with fans even internationally.

A local attraction RMN provided the smells and tastes of outdoor grills. The street food craze kept the market growing over the years with delicious food vendors and crowds who turned out to see the tents and neon lights.

However, Richmond Night Market has been criticized for having expensive admission, pricey food vendors, and mediocre entertainment. Many vendors selling Temu products. There was also recently a fire on the grounds where a tent went up in flames and a small business lost their inventory.

Losing interest. There are many free festivals during the summer from Powell Street Festival to Surrey Fusion Festival, Pinoy Fiesta, Dumpling Festival and more. The PNE is no doubt the essential summer event, but no festival have matched the Richmond Night Market in terms of long running multi-month events from April to September every year.

Changing demographics.  Whatever you think about RNM it did have it’s fans, but the organizers didn’t really keep up the changing wallets, and tastes of locals.

Reasons for RNM market closing the lease is up on the land! Redevelopment to occur in the future. No surprise. Richmond has many new towers popping up.

Goodbye Richmond Night Market!
