Fighter Chicken is a new-ish Asian fried chicken business in the Lower Mainland. They have fried chicken but also fried FISH and other FRIED foods. The first location was at South Granville Street and their newest location is at East Broadway and Renfrew.
Fighter Chicken is located next to Mr. Sub in a small plaza. The owner / manager at this location says Fighter Chicken is ‘Chinese-Canadian style’ and the ‘Fighter’ is Kung Fu inspired!
Fried chicken AND Fried Fish is what makes Fighter Chicken unique. Popeyes has shrimp and a limited time fish sandwich. Not many businesses do fried fish unless it’s fish and chips or fish burgers.
There’s also San Cha bubble tea sharing the same restaurant space.

Fish Filets $6.99
Four pieces. The fish are real fish filets and not flattened fish pieces.
Fried Chicken $21.89
Eight pieces. Mix of drumstick and chicken tenders boneless.
2 small cups of sauces provided along with ketchup packets.
One is a Sweet and Sour, the other is a dark thick sauce with spicy flavour like soy or hoisin. They need to add descriptions of the sauces.

QUALITY:
OK! The chicken has a unique flavour. Cooked fresh and was hot. The batter is crunchy and falls apart easily. No chicken thighs.
Drumsticks seemed overcooked, or inconsistently cooked compared to the rest of the chicken pieces. The chicken pieces had lots of batter, not enough meat and are boneless.
The fish filets were ok, but are not the best quality. The fish is maybe a basa, white fish. The cheese sticks were OK, not all of them were melted.
SERVICE:
GOOD! The owner / manager was friendly, and helpful. They need to put the kind of fish on the menu. They have poutine on the menu but don’t say what’s in it!
VERDICT:
Overall, SLIGHTLY SATISFIED. Fighter Chicken is a new business with a different take on fried chicken. No chicken thighs!
