Grand Opening of Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog November 10, 2020.
Welcome to Vancouver, Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog!
After many months of ‘Coming Soon’ Chung Chun finally opened their doors at Robson and Denman.
GRAND OPENING of Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog November 10, 2020.
Many foodies braved the cold November weather to try the Korean-style rice hot dog.
Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog is a global franchise with Canadian locations in Toronto and Montreal. This is the first BC location at Robson and Denman bringing the rice hot dog craze to Vancouver.
Chung Chun mixes their rice hot dogs with different toppings on the batter like Gamsung Potato, Ramen chips. Their menu has hot dogs, cheese dogs, and squid ink! You can customize orders too.
A rice hot dog is like a corn dog, only the batter is made from rice, with a chewy, soft texture and crispy outside.
The hot dogs are battered and fried fresh. You can see that the batter is thick they use scissors to cut it.
Squid Ink is cut to look like a squid!
The mozzarella cheese is very melty and stretchy!
Gamsung potato hot dog is delicious.
It’s like eating breakfast on a stick! Now if they only had egg to add to this!
PRICE:
$ AFFORDABLE! FAIR PRICE. $2.99 Grand Opening Special! Regular price $3.99-6.99 seems fair for the amount of toppings, cheese, batter, seasoning and sauce.
QUALITY:
GOOD! The rice batter is crispy outside and soft inside.
Gamsung potato is like eating breakfast on a stick. Good amount of toppings. The squid ink very good! Sweet flavor and the mozzarella is delicious, melty and stretchy.
SERVICE:
OK! They only season and sauce one side of the Hot Dog.
The paper plate they give you seems very flimsy!
Hard to read the line queue number screen on the door.
VERDICT:
Overall, SATISFIED. Chung Chun was worth the 1 hour wait in line. The Rice Hot Dog is unique street food and Chung Chun is the place to get it. Would return to try different flavour combinations.
