BAD: Quality can be hit or miss on some kitchen cooked food.

Shabusen is BACK!
The most popular All You Can Eat Sushi and BBQ restaurant in downtown Vancouver has reopened for Dine-In. Like all other restaurants reopening, new Physical Distancing rules must be followed.

Lunch at Shabusen

$19.50 Sushi Only or $21.95 Sushi + BBQ
Shabusen has a self-ordering system with a order sheet you fill out and give to the server. Sushi, BBQ, or kitchen cooked items. At Lunch the sashimi order is limited to 8 pieces per person.

Nice variety of sushi!
Salmon rolls, spicy tuna rolls, avacado rolls. Salmon and Tuna Nigiri. Worth the price of admission!

Chicken Karaage, and Zucchini tempura.
The tempura and karaage are served hot and fresh out of the fryer.

Salmon and Tuna sashimi.
Limited to 8 pieces per person at Lunch.

Grilled Meats
Cooking your own food takes some time, but it’s part of the experience!
The grills need an upgrade though. Heat distribution is sometimes an issue.

PRICE:
$$ AFFORDABLE. FAIR Price for All You Can Eat. Around $25 for Lunch plus Tax and Tip. Lunch is cheaper than Dinner AYCE.

QUALITY:
OK! The quality depends on the day! Stick to the nigiri, and rolls, chicken karaage, tempura, and BBQ. Avoid some of the kitchen cooked items like Gyoza which tend to be less fresh. grills need upgrade.

SERVICE:
GOOD! Shabusen recently changed their serving staff. The new staff seems more friendly. During Covid they wear masks and gloves.

VERDICT:
Overall, SATISFIED. Shabusen is one of a few sushi restaurants that has AYCE BBQ and Sushi. It is popular for the AYCE at a reasonable price. The quality is good enough for a filling AYCE experience.
