Good: Nice quality and selection of items.

Bad: Strict NO Wasted Food rules, and server questioning if you can actually finish the food you order.

Kyo made the #1 spot in our Gutom favorites TOP ALLĀ  YOU CAN EAT SUSHI RESTAURANTS IN VANCOUVER.

Kyo Korean BBQ and Sushi is an ALL YOU CAN EAT restaurant that took over the old Shabusen location on South Granville Street. They offer Lunch and Dinner menus similar to other AYCE. They are strict with NO WASTED FOOD rules and seating time limit.

At Kyo, they will also limit the amount of food you order and won’t serve full orders until you finish what was served. This place is very serious of about NO WASTED FOOD!

Nice spacious interior with lots of natural light.
Good ventilation when you’re grilling!

Spicy Tuna Cones
Crispy seaweed, and soft rice with spicy fish!

Tuna Sashimi and Salmon Sashimi.
Good color and no funny smells. Good slice portion.

Hot grill for cooking raw chicken and beef. Very hot!

Nice Kimchi and Radish side dishes. The radish is very addicting!

Dessert
Jello and mango pudding.

At Kyo you’ll find standard sushi items like nigiri, rolls, and cones. Sashimi is limited to 6 pieces during lunch. They also have spicy salmon nigiri not common at other AYCE sushi restaurants. There is also a grill similar to Shabusen. Overall Kyo seems fresher and has better quality and portion sizes than Shabusen.

PRICE:
$$ Affordable. Fair Pricing for ALL YOU CAN EAT sushi and BBQ.

QUALITY:
Good. Good balance of rice and fish in rolls, and nigiri. Sushi was made fresh. Fish tasted fresh and not frozen. No funny smells or colors. Nice presentation. Tempura was hot and crispy.

SERVICE:
Good. Friendly. However they are serious about the NO WASTED FOOD and will remind you at the start and question the amount you’re ordering. “Are you sure you can finish it?” They also limit food served unless they see you finish the previous order.

VERDICT:
Overall, SATISFIED. Kyo Korean BBQ and Sushi is a good place to get your fill of AYCE sushi in a nice spacious restaurant.

Is Kyo better than Shabusen? They are similar but Shabusen has gone downhill over the years.
