Sumo Grill serves Japanese inspired cuisine, Yakiniku style grill.
(Not to be confused with Chanko-nabe traditional Sumo hot pot.)
The menu is all self-order touch screen. The server will make suggests like the pricey wagyu platters, but you can order individual dishes too.
Let’s check out the menu, and order a few different items. The goal: order dishes that are under $20!
In Table Grill
The server will start the grill when you order the raw meat dishes. Cook it yourself!
‘Free Dish’
A free dish is included with the meal. Beef stew radish and carrot.

Cook how you like it! The server turned up the heat too much. You can overcook or undercook your food easily.
Wagyu Beef Tongue Gyoza $12.95
Karaage $11.95
Includes lemon wedge, and mayo.
Thin Cut Beef Tongue $18.95
Includes half lime.
Lemon juice, and seaweed are included with beef tongue.
AB Top Sirloin $18.95
Includes lime wedge and two salt. Pink salt, and white salt.
Rice $4
Rice is not included, but is a MUST when eating Yakiniku.
The LATE NIGHT menu starts at 9:30PM. The menu prices look much better, and cocktail drinks are 20% OFF.
PRICE:
$$ Dishes start over $10.
QUALITY:
OK! Nice presentation. Thin cuts of meat. Cook to your liking. Use the sauces for flavour. Beef short, Beef tongue, and sirloin are good/tastes beefy! Karaage is good. Gyoza good but not crispy.
SERVICE:
OK! Limited Dining time. They prioritize reservations over walk-ins even if you are first in line. They prefer big groups over small parties. The server will suggest the wagyu platters. Lots of servers hovering around, but seems rushed to order, cook, eat and get out of restaurant fast.
VERDICT:
Overall, SLIGHTLY SATISFIED. Sumo Grill is nice for small bites and drinks. If you like beef, Sumo Grill has a variety of beef cuts. While beef is a big part of the menu, there are other Asian inspired dishes. For best value try the 9:30PM Late Night menu.

Kingsway has any restaurants in the Joyce Collingwood area with unique eats from Asia. Sumo Grill looks like it could be popular if the prices are affordable for families, students, and lunchtime workers.
