WALKING TOUR

VANCOUVER OLYMPIC VILLAGE

FOODIE STREET

EAST/WEST 2ND

EAST/WEST 2ND is officially a FOODIE STREET! This area is known as Olympic Village at False Creek. East/West 2nd runs between Main Street and Cambie and has seen a boom of new buildings and restaurants. Let’s take a look at the food on this street!

This area was created for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Newly gentrified area that continues to grow. On this corner there’s a Mountain Equipment Co-Op, Starbucks, and Craft Beer. It’s very “West Coast.” EAST 2nd eventually turns into WEST 2nd.

Brewhall is a popular restaurant pub specializing in BEER and gastropub fare. It’s famous for the large red barn, patio seating. $14 BEER AND BURGER seems like a good deal!

REVIEWED ON GUTOM – HON’S WONTON HOUSE
Chinese Cuisine
Popular for potstickers, good prices and portion sizes.

Olympic Village is close to Science World, Rogers Arena, and Chinatown. There is a Skytrain Station at Science World and bike path at False Creek that goes to Granville Island or Stanley Park.

Another tower will be going up here.

Maybe more restaurants?

REVIEWED ON GUTOM – PHO QUYNH EXPRESS
Vietnamese and Cambodian Cuisine
Popular for unique style of Vietnamese food with Outdoor seating.

The RED BARN is CRAFT BEER MARKET another restaurant pub with BEER and gastro pub fare. This area is the center of Olympic Village by the water of False Creek.

Inside Olympic Village there’s a Terra Breads and Tap & Barrel.

Other restaurants on this street:

BAO DOWN
Asian Fusion

The Flying Pig
Canadian Cuisine
Large space for Outdoor seating.

Ophelia
Modern Mexican Cuisine.

Nook
Italian Cuisine
Outdoor seating.

Overall, East/West 2nd is a nice walkable street. While the selection of restaurants is OK, they could always add more variety and choice but maybe the rent is too high for this neighbourhood.
