HON’S WONTON HOUSE
EAST BROADWAY AND COMMERCIAL DRIVE
HON’S A FAMILIAR NAME GOES MODERN
Hon’s Wonton House has been a popular chain of Chinese restaurants in Vancouver since the 1970s. The original locations in Chinatown and on Robson closed many years ago. Hon’s REBRANDED with a new menu and new locations on East Broadway, and Olympic Village.
Hon’s Wonton House has soups, rice dishes, fried rice, and dumplings and even All Day Dim Sum! You can also customize the noodles and wontons in the soup. If you remember the original Hon’s the large menu is now much smaller.
Unfortunately, no liquor on the menu which would have been perfect in the summer with outdoor seating!
Potstickers (Pork) $5
Comes with some cabbage and a side of ginger vinegar.
Wonton Noodle Soup $9
Nice wontons, noodles, and piece of Chinese broccoli gai lan.
$-$$ FAIR PRICE. Cheap $5 potstickers. Other dishes are $10-$12 reasonably priced.
OK! Good potion size of soup, wontons, and noodles. Soup wasn’t the most flavourful but still good. Potstickers seemed a little undercooked, not so crispy, and not hot in the center. Original Hon’s pot stickers never had sesame sprinkles.
OK! Friendly. Seemed a little slow to get the potstickers. They served the soup before the potstickers. Nice bright space. There’s outdoor seating but closed. Clean washroom but requires a key from server.
Overall, SATISFIED. This ain’t yo mama’s Hon’s. MODERN Hon’s is totally DIFFERENT. The potstickers and noodles soup don’t taste the same but are good and filling. The prices are reasonable.
