Gutom Travels to Stockholm! (Recorded in January 2020)
Stockholm the Capital of Sweden is a beautiful city that attracts tourists from around the world. A world-class city means world-class prices but you can still experience Stockholm on a BUDGET!
City Backpackers is a hostel just down the street from Central Station. At around $30-$40 per night, you can get a clean bed in a private or shared dorm, and access to WIFI, kitchen, bathroom, and storage. This is a good option for everyone, families, students, and BACKPACKERS.
City Backpackers is centrally located and close to many sights. The hostel is in a older building but it is very modern and clean, with a nice atmosphere. Bed sheets + towel (35sek), laundry service (50sek) and breakfast (75sek) are an extra charge. You can also rent bikes, skates and skateboards from the hostel.
Hostel benefits
Discounts, pub crawls, and lots of information on local attractions and tours while meeting other travelers. You also get FREE PASTA at City Backpackers, a kitchen and computer to use! Of course you should add beer to your travel budget!
The hostel cafe and dorms are accessed through the courtyard. Nice place to hang out in the summer but it’s quiet in the winter.
Entering the hostel is like entering a home. No shoes inside the building. Remove shoes at the entrance! This helps keep the hostel clean!
Nice communal kitchen on the lower level of hostel with two sinks, ovens, fridges, and tables.
Hostel lounge is very chill with TV, lots of seats and free computers. There’s another movie room with a large TV. There are bathrooms with a toilet or toilet and shower throughout the hostel.
Scandinavian style. The hostel has a comfortable, modern design with some retro features. A small living room outside the dorm room with a couch and vintage TV.
4-bed Dorm
Two bunks, four lockers, street facing room. The room seemed small but not cluttered. The sheets were laundered. The mattress was clean and each bed has a lamp and power outlet. The lockers looked small but fits a large backpack and more.
The large heaters/radiators kept the room warm even with beds by windows in the winter. You can hear the door of the room next door opening/closing but other than that it was pretty quiet. The street outside is also quiet.
Hostel YOU MUST have a lock for the lockers. Pad lock you can purchase from hostel for 50sek.
GUTOM TIP – Buy padlock from Clas Ohlson at Gallerian mall.
There is a luggage room to store your stuff. The luggage room doesn’t have individual lockers so you should use a lock on your luggage and backpacks zippers and/or remove valuables before storing!
Cheap Eats outside the hostel
There are good deals in Stockholm. From convenience stores to restaurants. Start the morning with 7 Eleven for a coffee and snack. Lunch at a food court or All You Can Eat Buffet.

Free Sights
Stockholm is a beautiful city surrounded by water. Stockholm was founded in 1252 by Birger Jarl but the area was settled since the Stone Age. Scandinavia is a subregion in Northern Europe made up of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

There is so much to see in central Stockholm like the outdoor ice skating rink at Kungstradgarden.

Gamla stan Stockholm’s old town is a bustling district popular with locals and tourists for the historic buildings, and streets, cool shops and delicious restaurants. A MUST SEE when in Stockholm.

VERY GOOD! CLEAN hostel dorm, CLEAN bathrooms, and throughout hostel. Nice extras like computers, TV, FREE PASTA, Sauna!
SERVICE:
GOOD! Friendly and helpful at Check-in. Lots of toilet paper!
VERDICT:
Overall, VERY SATISFIED. City Backpackers is a clean, safe, and budget friendly hostel in a great location. Cheap accommodation means you can spend more on attractions, souvenirs and food.
