CHRISTMAS 2025
VANCOUVER CHRISTMAS MARKET
The Vancouver Christmas Market in 2025 is a little different from previous years. The ticket only German-themed holiday market is a fun event that will draw crowds for food, selfies, and artisan vendors, but if you’re a regular here you’ll notice a few things have changed.
What hasn’t changed?
The Vancouver Christmas Market has always been a ticketed admission event. Christmas markets in Europe are free. You’d expect this one to be free but unfortunately it’s not and doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. There is a complicated ticketing with schedule and times on the website.
What’s changed?
Pork Hock vendor Haxen Haus is gone. It has been replaced by Rosie’s BBQ and Smokehouse (Haxen and Hen Haus). The original Haxen Haus is now vending at The Shipyards Christmas Market in North Vancouver. Haxen Haus used to be a focal point for foodies with their mouth watering display and condiment dispensers. You’ll have to settle for Rosie’s BBQ and Smokehouse which is more Southern BBQ than German.
There is no Spatzle vendor. Spatzle is a German pasta dish comforting food for the winter. Unfortunately there is no spatzle here.
Turkey Leg vendor is gone. There used to be a vendor specializing in Turkey drumstick but this year it’s gone.
No more German ornament store. There used to be a large German ornament section with authentic traditional wooden crafts. That section was completely removed a few years ago. You can still find ornaments at the market, but it’s not nearly as extensive as it was before.
What’s nice?
Gluhwein Warm Wine when it’s chilly is perfect.
Samples, samples samples. Vendors are offering samples from chocolate, to mushroom soup, to wine, cider, gin and more.
Light displays! Selfies, Selfies, Selfies.
Merry-go-round for the family!
What to buy?
Lots of artisan vendors with candles, soap, clothing, ornaments. You’ll feel like buying something because they are freezing out in the cold.
Overall, the Vancouver Christmas Market is a little less German, and more of a generic holiday market that has enough to entertain but is it enough to maintain year after year?
