VANCOUVER CHINATOWN FESTIVAL – VANCOUVER FOOD GUIDE REVIEWS – GUTOM.CA

WALKING TOUR

Vancouver Chinatown Festival August 10, 2019.
This event takes place at Keefer, and Columbia around the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Garden, in Vancouver’s Chinatown. A nice event with live entertainment, food, and various vendors.

A few of the food vendors here can be found at other festivals. Japadog is always a festival favorite.

The Shaolin Kung Fu team put on an impressive demonstration.

The Vancouver Chinatown Festival is a good cultural festival. The stage has a impressive big screen and profession sound system not common at other Cultural festivals. Lots of performances on stage and games to play to keep the whole family entertained.

The festival only covers a small part of Chinatown, and doesn’t go on Pender and other areas that might be unsafe.

It’s hard to find parking so be prepared to pay for street parking or in a parkade.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen or simply ‘Popeyes’ is a very popular American fried chicken franchise. There are two locations in the Lower Mainland — Surrey and Port Coquitlam. This review is the POCO location.

So what’s the deal with Popeyes? Not only do they serve fried chicken, they also have seafood. Fried Shrimp and Fish which goes back to the Louisiana Kitchen style of food. They also have mashed potatoes, beans and rice, Cajun fries, corn on the cob for sides.

8 Piece Family Meal $27.99.
Half Original and Half Spicy.
Comes with Biscuits, and Mashed Potatoes with Cajun gravy.

Popeyes Biscuits are delicious!
Fluffy, soft and crumbly.

PRICE:
$$ Pricey. Similar pricing to other fast fried chicken joints.

QUALITY:
Good. Crunchy, big pieces. Spicy fried chicken not too spicy. Fluffy, buttery, soft biscuits. The mash was ok.

SERVICE:
Ok. Seemed slow in comparison to KFC or Church’s Chicken. Friendly. Clean. Good seating with tables or bar seating.

VERDICT:
Popeye’s is a solid choice for fast food fried chicken. They also offer FISH and SHRIMP for seafood lovers. Put Popeyes on your list of FRIED food. If you’re coming from Vancouver, this location is pretty far out.
