BA LE DELI & BAKERY BANH MI SECOND LOCATION AT BROADWAY –  VANCOUVER FOOD REVIEWS – GUTOM.CA

Popular Vietnamese sub sandwich shop Ba Le Deli & Bakery, a Vietnamese sandwich shop (Banh Mi) has opened a second location. This one is on Broadway.

This location is cleaner, more modern, but not as busy as the original
location on Kingsway.

The prices are the same, but the service seems to be less friendly.

We ordered
Special  #5
Meatball Special #11

VALUE:
Ok. Less than $10, but more than $5.

QUALITY:
Good sandwich veggies, deli meats but the bread
didn’t taste as fresh at this location.

SERVICE:
Unfriendly at this location.

VERDICT:
Go to the Kingsway location for better service
and Banh Mi.

BANH MI SAIGON THE NEW KING OF VIETNAMESE SUB SANDWICH IN SOUTH VANCOUVER – GUTOM FOOD REVIEW

Banh Mi Saigon on Victoria Drive in South Vancouver is the latest in many Vietnamese sub sandwich shops popping up all over the city.

This shop however is a little more polished in appearance than the usual family owned business. The restaurant is clean, with open space to view the sandwich artists hard at work. The ingredients are front and centre. FRESH is what the owners want to show customers as soon as they enter. The branding is clear, and there are bread baking ovens revolving.

There is a small seating area, but when this place gets busy at lunchtime expect to stand. Each sandwich is made once ordered, so there is a short wait to get your food.

Price
The days of $3.50 Banh Mi are over in Vancouver. Expect to spend $4 – $5 per sandwich. Average these days.

BANH MI YEN LINH COFFEE SHOP THE SADDEST LITTLE VIETNAMESE SUB SANDWICH SHOP IN VANCOUVER

The saddest little Banh Mi Shop in Vancouver. Banh Mi Yen Linh is a new sandwich shop on Kingsway. The space is large, but with no customers makes this a sad shop.

Ordered:
– Lemongrass chicken banh mi $5.00
– Iced Coffee $4.50

Lemongrass bahn mi has good chicken filling, lots of veggies, and soft bread.

The iced coffee was served without a drip coffee filter, already mixed with condensed milk in a to-go cup.

Value: Too expensive for the quality of sandwich, and iced coffee. Better options in the area like Ba Le.
Quality: Lemongrass meat did not have a good temperature. Veggie fillings were ok.
Service: Server didn’t understand much English. She was confused when ordering iced coffee.

Strange quiet Banh Mi shop with clean modern interior but there’s nothing special about the food.

BANH MI VIETNAMESE SANDWICH AT BA-LE DELI AND BAKERY EAST VANCOUVER

The best Banh Mi in Vancouver is at Ba-Le Deli & Bakery.

This place is so popular, that they sell out of sandwiches quite often. If you don’t get there early, you may not get one at all.

Ba-Le Deli in East Vancouver Kingsway and Fraser has been around for many years. They bake the baguettes fresh daily, and offer a short but tasty menu featuring Pork, Chicken, or Beef sandwiches.

Note: There is another location (Ba Le Sandwich Shop) in Vancouver’s Chinatown but they do not have the same bread. Ba-Le supplies the sandwich ingredients but the bread is from different supplier at Ba Le Sandwich Shop. Confirmed by the owners of Ba-Le Deli

The sandwiches used to be $3.50 – $3.75 a few years ago, but has since gone up to $5-$5.50. Still quite affordable for Vancouver prices.

The Lemongrass Chicken sandwich is a special for limited time.

What We Ordered
– Beef sandwich
– Pork sandwich

Value: Good
Quality: Fresh, Excellent. The bread is wonderful, and the veggies are fresh.
Service: Fast, slow during busy hours. Sells out FAST!

If you like spice, be sure to ask for chili pepper!
