J&G Fried Chicken is a international chain of Taiwanese Fried Chicken.
This is the first location in Western Canada at The Crystal Mall food court, Burnaby.

There are also squid balls, fries, and veggies.

Entire menu was 10% Off during Soft Opening.

We were told the price is based on weight. The Popcorn Chicken is made from chicken breast, while the Chicken Bites are chicken thigh.

Chicken Wings $6.00 (2 Pieces)
Tasty salty seasoning. Non-spicy. Awkward to eat on a stick.
Ok portion. Seemed bigger than average buffalo wings.

Signature Popcorn Chicken $8.50
There’s only one portion size offered.
Tasty salty seasoning. Pieces are small, snack size portions.
There is also a spicy seasoning option.

December 1st is the Grand Opening, and we were told that there will be a really special offer for the day.

$ Affordable. Could be cheaper for this style of snack-sized street food.

QUALITY:
Good quality. Fried fresh. Nice seasoning.
Chicken pieces vary in size, and amount of batter

Friendly. Fast, unfussy. English speaking.

VERDICT:
Nice place to get Taiwanese chicken.
Soft Opening: No plates, trays, no napkins/tissue, no forks.
Served only in paper and plastic bags. No sauces/condiments.

The Crystal Mall (also known as Crystal Mall) is an Asian shopping
center in Burnaby next to Metrotown Mall.

It is also connected to The Hilton Hotel of Burnaby. If you’re staying at the hotel the food court is easily accessible.

Crystal Mall has a very popular food court featuring international cuisine.
It can be intimidating for people visiting the food court.
What to eat? 
At the time of this post you will find Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian cuisine. Vendors may change. Quality may vary throughout the day.
It’s best to eat here at Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner time for freshest prepared food.

Decent congee portion, and lots of fish pieces. 
The side of stir fried noodles is nothing special, no meat, veggie only but still tasty.
A full order of Chow Mein. Nice portion and toppings!

Finish off your meal at Crystal Mall with some bubble tea. There are several bubble tea vendors in the food court. 
Tea Plus has reasonable prices, and a variety of options. Drinks are  also well shaken by the shaker machine.

TANDOORI FLAME REVISITED – Improved!

We revisit Tandoori Flame to taste and see what’s changed
since our first trip to the All You Can Eat Indian buffet back in June.

Tandoori Flame in Surrey is ready for the Holidays with Christmas
decorations greeting customers at the entrance. (Still November!)

This visit was at Lunch on Remembrance Day Monday.
They charge the Weekend price $22.99 on Holiday long weekends.
We arrived right at Opening 11:30 AM, there was a short line wait.

After a short wait, we were quickly seated.
Very spacious dining area and large windows with nice natural light!

At opening time, some of the food was missing from the buffet but it was added
soon after opening. Better to have food FRESH, rather than
it sitting on the buffet for many hours.

There is a halal section on the buffet. Nice addition!
Halal goat curry, halal butter chicken, and halal tandoori chicken!

The authentic naan oven is fun to watch. Fresh naan bread!

Chutneys. What a variety of flavors!

Salad bar, Soup, salads, fruits, and veggies.

Make Your Own Chutney! A cool feature of the buffet!

Finish the meal with chai tea! No free refill.

PRICE:
$$ Not the cheapest but still affordable.

QUALITY:
Excellent selection. Delicious flavors, and good food temperatures.

SERVICE:
Friendly. Water refills, and clearing plates.

VERDICT:
All You Can Eat. Large selection. Very good quality.
Clean restaurant, and friendly service.
Recommend going during lunch. After lunch
buffet may not be fresh.

 Sweet Jesus is a soft serve ice cream chain originally from Toronto.

This is the first Sweet Jesus location in BC and Vancouver,
at Metrotown Burnaby.

The ice cream is covered in a variety of toppings, like Cookies & Cream,
Brownies, Nutella, and more.

Prices start at around $5 – $8 after tax and tip, and any extras,
expect to pay at least $10 for this soft serve ice cream.

We ordered Cookies & Cream $7.50, in a Waffle Cone $1.

Nice sweet treat for yourself, friends, and family.
The kids will love it.
Pricey soft serve but the portion is generous.
Lots of toppings variety to choose.

is very good! Sizzling dishes, stews, and Korean food favorites.

There are 3 banchan side dishes offered.
Radish, kimchi, potato.

Tofu Soup
Steaming hot bowl of Soon Tofu Jjigae $9.50
Comes with a side of rice served in metal bowl not stone pot.

Nice amount of Tofu, beef, and veggies! The flavor is very good.

Steamed Pork Dumpling $10.50 8 Pieces.
Comes with a side of dipping sauce.

On this visit, the side dishes were replenished once
without extra charge.
